The ABCs Of Finals Week

If only we were actually back to the time when we were learning the alphabet.

Oh, finals. The deepest and darkest point of the school year for every college student. None of our finals will be as easy as reciting the ABCs, but nonetheless here are the ABCs of finals week that are way too relatable for every single college student.

Another semester comes to an end, queue my 14 days straight of breakdowns.

Barely getting by, and it’s all thanks to caffeine.

Crying every hour but then convincing yourself that this will all be worth it.

Don’t ask me if I’m tired because the answer will always be yes.

Eye bags that no amount of concealer can fix.

Fed up with school and deadlines and wanting to be home for the holidays.

Going through four months’ worth of assignments and wondering when you ever learned any of this stuff.

Homework…even though finals are a few days away. Is that allowed?

I probably only come out of my room to eat food because I have too many things to do.

Juggling studying for finals on top of every other responsibility is nearly impossible.

Kicking yourself for not being prepared for exams…AGAIN.

Libraries packed to the brim with students all in the same boat as you.

Mental stability is at an all-time low.

Not making it to class on time because you overslept because you went to bed at 5 a.m.

Overwhelmed is an understatement at this point.

Pain is temporary, GPA is forever!!

Quiet hours in all of the res halls. I will seriously fight someone if they disrupt my studying.

Reassuring yourself that once exams are over, you get to go home.

Sleeping anywhere that allows you to get a few extra minutes; that includes standing in line for coffee or accidentally falling asleep in the library.

To-do lists that could stretch across all of campus.

Unemployed and unhappy is what my future looks like if I can’t pass these tests.

Very upset with yourself that you keep finding excuses to procrastinate studying.

Wondering why you didn’t pay more attention during class throughout the semester.

Xpresso shots in every single thing you order. (xpresso is close enough to espresso, right?)

Yawning so hard that tears are constantly coming out of your eyes.

Zzzzz is what I plan on doing once I am finally done taking all of my tests!!

Good luck to everyone on finals! Just push through this one last week and then we are home for the holidays!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
