When we were little, we had to learn our ABCs and 123s and then connect them to real worlds. It used to be apples, bus, and cat, and now it is average, bars, and cars. From the time, we were little to til we eventually our kids have kids, we will be regularly using the alphabet to explain things, make lists and filling in those ever annoying Scantron sheets.
A...A-day
A-Day has been going for over 67 years, it is the first major state fair in Pennsylvania, that spans across three days filled with food, exhibits, and lot of fun family events.
B...Dr. Joseph Brosnan
For nine years now, Dr. Brosnan has been Delaware Valley's school President. At the end of last year, he announced to our school that he will be retiring in August of 2016.
C...Cows
While all of the animals on Del Val farms are just as equally important, my favorite is the cow. Not only do they give us milk for our fantastic milkshakes, but they also provide so much happiness and when the students come to give them food and water.
D...Doylestown
Doylestown. Just a hop skip and jump away from Del Val; it is one of the closers towns where the old charm with new entities, will make you never want to leave college.
E...E60
If you talk to any Del Val student, they will give you one of two answers about what they think of this program. One being they love it and think that is an excellent idea. The other is that they are so tired of it and do not want to think about it at all. I'm currently in the middle. E360 in short is a way for Del Val to get its students some real-world experience through internships, jobs, and study abroad programs.
F...Food
While I'm not talking about the cafeteria food, I am referring to the Del Val Market, with the food either coming from the campus or very local farms, the food is always fresh, and the milkshakes there are legendary.
G...Grads
Not only is it the 117th year of graduation ceremonies. A new year of grad students will be joining our school in our newly formed master programs, with nine master degrees so far, there surely will be something for everyone in the future.
H...Helping out
Every year, Del Val's clubs and organizations get together and either on or off campus go and help out a local business for a couple of hours. It could be anything from giving the barns or greenhouses a good scrub. To going to a Habitat for Humanity house and helping to put up some walls for a couple of hours.
I...Inventive
Last May Del Val had over 700 middle to high school girls, come to Del Val to learn about the possible STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers that are out there for them. Del Val has also been selected as a STEM approved college.
J...James Work
James Work was Del Val's president for 28 years and was also an alumnus here. Some people say that our founder Dr.Krauskopf had planted the seed for our school, and James Work was able to take it and help make it flourish into what our school is today.
James Work Hall
James Work Memorial Stadium
James Work Gymnasium
K...Krauskopf Library
The Joseph Krauskopf Library is home to many late night papers, getting that one book that you didn't think you would need to buy for the semester, and just casually looking for a place to rest your head, after thinking all about those papers that are due.
L...Lake Archer
Some say it's a lake, some a pond, either way, a great place to hang out. Lake Archer is like a hidden oasis, where you can fish, watch the birds, and now and then partake in a lab experiment in the water.
M...Majors and Minors
With over 26 majors and tons of minors, there will always be something to choose from at Del Val. From Agribusiness to Zoo Science, Del Val is an exceedingly diverse group of teachers and students.
N... New Britain Inn
Good beer, cheap wings, and lots of music. Wing Thursday's are the best "with all you can eat wings" for $10.99, its a great way to start the weekend before the dreaded homework pops into your brain.
O...Original Gate
If you ever been to Del Val, then you will know about the gates. The gates were the original entrance to Del Val before the 611 state route was built.
P...Pre-Professional
On top of the major, minors and grad programs Del Val also has Pre-Professional programs that will get undergraduate students ready to go into their future school programs to become a doctor.
Q....Queens, Drag Queens to be exact
Each year Del Val will have their annual Drag Show, where you can either be a part of the show and just sit and watch, it is a night to remember.
R...Rooted in Tradition
Between, A-Day, Convocation, Pride and Polish, Del Val is huge on tradition. This idea is what I love about Del Val so much; we constantly are going back to our roots no matter how much our school evolves, we still have our family to get our backs.
S. Squirrels
I can see how seeing that may look weird, but I am here today to petition that our mascot is changed from the Rams to the Squirrels, with some squirrels, it would not be shocking to see up to 50 a day in the course of your travels along campus.
T. Train Station
If you don't have a car or just don't want to drive down to Philadelphia, then take the train. The train station meets right up to the parking lot where you can go into Doylestown or all the way down to the airport. No more paying for city parking fees!
U...Undergrads
Most of Del Val is undergraduates with the class of 2018 being a record-breaking year for new students coming into the school. Which is fantastic and all, until we realize that prices increase as more students come in.
V...Vacation
Vacation, staycation, wherever you go as long as it's relaxing and stress-free, then it has done its job.
W...Work
While very few of us do not have to work in college the majority of us do, most of the times it is on campus at the administration office, at the pub or even in the writing center, working on campus is a great thing to do. Plus you don't have to use gas!
X...Exes
Yes, I realize that exes doesn't start with an 'x', but I'm close enough. With a school of only 2,000 students, it is not that hard to avoid your ex, especially if there near the same major as you.
Y....Yearly Tuition
One thing Del Val is known for is its tuition, because of the small private university status, Del Val has more than enough reasons to up the price of education each year. Luckily FASFA and scholarships come and help save the day.
Z. Zoo Science
As we finish up the alphabet, we finally get to the letter 'Z', the Zoo Science major at Del Val is a great major with those who would like to help animals out in the wildlife more than in a small animal science side of things.
