The millennials' childhood is returning to them. Everywhere I look I see coloring books made for adults and merchandise from television shows that have long been over. Even Wonderballs made a return to the shelves after they were deemed illegal for quite some years. It seems like elementary and middle school trends are returning to those of us who were born in the good old 1990s. From food to clothing to remakes of the shows that we all used to love, or in some cases loved to hate.
The fashion of the 90s has definitely made a big comeback. I was walking through the store the other day and I saw overalls. Overalls. They used to be a big thing then but disappeared and people seemed to avoid them like the plague. Now, all of a sudden, they're back, and with a vengeance. All the crazy overall colors and patterns that used to be sprinkled throughout society are back. Pair them with the crop tops, crazy bright colors, torn denim, chokers, and so many more things from that decade that I see around the college and in stores feels like I fell through a time portal to my childhood.
It's not just the clothes that have made a reappearance, but also the shows that we used to either get up early for or rush home from school to get to see. A lot of these shows have gotten or are getting remakes of them. Some are getting movies. A few examples of these are Hey Arnold!, Rocco's Modern Life, and Samurai Jack (Let's just hope these are better than what they did to Teen Titans and Powerpuff Girls). There are also a few shows that never left, such as Spongebob. Others had branch offs made, like how Boy Meets World is now Girl Meets World.
Not only can you now watch television like you used to, but you can snack like you used to as well. Wonderballs are not the only food that has magically reappeared on the shelves. That same day I saw the overalls, I also saw Count Chocula and the gang's cereal. The inner child in me may have died a little of happiness at the sight of Boo Berry. All we need now are fruit rollups to pop back up. With everything considered, we can now dress, watch, and eat like it was our childhood days again, as we long for the simplicity of just being mad at Angelica instead of having to type term papers.
