It’s beginning to be that time in the semester, the time that students dread most, exams. While some students begin studying weeks in advance for their exams, most wait until a few days before. We can’t help it, we have a lot to juggle as students, schoolwork, projects, extracurricular activities, social life, and work life. You get so wrapped up in the other aspects of our lives that when you finally get a chance to take a breath and look and your planner you realize your exam is in 48 hours. This is when you begin the eight stages of cramming:
1. Panic
"I have no idea what I'm doing."
2. Over confidence
"I totally know this material!"
3. Procrastination
"I have time to take a little break."
4. Panic after looking over the material again
"I totally do not know this material!"
5. Pulling the allnighter
"If I study all night without sleeping I will remember the material, right?"
6. Last minute studying
"None of this makes sense."
7. Exam time
"Well, ready of not, time for the exam."
8. Post exam
"It's over, at least you made it."
After the exam, what you need most is a nap and to remember to start studying earlier next time so you don't get into the same situation, right?
