At some point in everyone's life, they realize "I should probably eat better" and attempt to go on a "diet." For some people, it's a total lifestyle change that they can keep and manage for the rest of their lives. If that's you, I say good on you. Others of us try to do too much too soon and wind up hungry, cranky and disappointed.
Here are the eight stages of a diet.
1. Excitement
"Yes! I can do this! I'm going to be super healthy and it's going to be so easy."
2. Confusion
"Can I eat this? What about this? Is this healthy?"
3. Disgust
"Ugh, I can't believe people choose to make kale for dinner."
4. Re-invigorated
"Just a small hiccup in the road, I've got this."
5. More Confusion
"What can I actually eat?"
6. The Inevitable Trip to McDonalds/Arby's/Cookout/Chick-fil-a
"Yeah, I'll have a number 2 please."
"That'll be $4.32"
"$4.32 and my dignity."
7. More Disgust
"I can't believe I ate that."
8. Convenient Ignorance
"What diet?"
Some of us just weren't meant for the diet world.
