Summer of 2013 to Summer of 2014, Vine was my favorite app. It kept killing my phone memory, but every megabyte was worth it. It was the first app I opened when I woke up and the last one I closed before I fell asleep. Vine is an app acquired by Twitter where regular people like you and I, can upload six-second videos of anything. Miniature time-lapses, short skits, and bad jokes. Vine immediately became an internet sensation giving aspiring artists and comedians a platform to grow their audience. Some Vine stars eventually ended up making money off the app. Last week, Twitter announced they would be phasing out and closing the app within the next few months. This came out of left-field, but made sense after some thought. Vine hasn’t been doing the numbers it did in 2013-2014. The presence on other social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook has died down.
