It's the most wonderful time of the year! No, it's not Christmas, it's not your birthday, it's time for income tax returns! Whether you have plans to invest that money or plan on treating yo' self, most of us will go through these 7 stages.

1. Working your ass off

Whether you've been waiting tables or working retail, you've been working really hard for the past year. You DESERVE this money that you're about to get!

2. The waiting game

After you (or your mom, let's be honest) file your taxes, you spend every waking moment waiting for the check to come in the mail or repeatedly checking your bank account for the direct deposit.

3. The arrival

The day has arrived. You have received your long awaited, God-sent tax return!

4. The planning

What will you do with this newfound fortune?! The opportunities are endless, as you are no longer broke! You finally feel like you don't have to be frugal when it comes to going out with friends or buying a new wardrobe.

5. The spending

You've made big plans to spend this money wisely, but you've already blown half of it on things you don't need such as a Lumee iPhone case or a multitude of bath bombs. But who cares! This only happens once a year!

6. The remorse

It's only been two days, but what happened to all of that money? You thought you'd be able to ration it out for a couple of weeks, but it's just too tempting...

7. Repeat

Well, it's back to work you go, and you have an entire year to do so until your next tax return. But just use that as motivation to get through your shifts! Tax returns are a gift from above that we should be able to use as we wish!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
