The 7 Phases Of Trying To Wake Up Early

We all have been there before. Trying to wake up early and then realizing that we have just wasted the morning doing nothing.

Waking up in the morning isn't everyone's favorite time of the day but it is something we have to do every day. Here are the 7 phases of getting out of bed:

1. The pre-planning

This takes before you even got to bed. Here is when you decide that you will wake up early the next morning because you want your day to be more productive. You start by setting your alarm sometime before your regular hours, and just to be sure you also activate the snooze button.

2. First Alarm

No matter what, your bed will always feel more comfortable when you are supposed to wake up. When the first alarm starts ringing, you immediately start convincing yourself of that five more minutes is just that, and that you will still have time left to do everything else.

3. The twilight zone

This starts happening when you just keep pressuring the snooze button. Even though you can hear your alarm calling you, you are unable to wake up, because you feel so tired. During this time, you are consciously using the snooze button, but you are not keeping track of how long you have been using it. You feel like you are prepared to wake up, but you just can’t bring yourself to do it.

4. The wake-up call

This is when you have enough and can no longer procrastinate, you have to wake up! Then you look at your phone and realize that it's super late. You suddenly open your eyes to their full potential and feel a rush of energy going through your body.

5. I don't have time for that

You have little to no time to get ready for the morning. You basically jump to your clothes, while brushing your teeth, and putting on your shoes. Suddenly, you go from being a procrastinator to a master in multitasking. But again, you don’t have time for everything and must sacrifice things like breakfast, looking at your phone or listening to music before leaving home.

6. Where is it?

There is always that one thing that decides to get lost the morning that you are late. You start throwing things to the floor and quickly going to the places that it could be. After looking for the second time, you realize that it was in some obvious place the first time, but you couldn’t see it because something was on top of it.

7. I'm ready

You have already completed a fast-passed morning routine, and you start grabbing the things that you will need for the day. Once you have collected a few things you decide that whatever you didn’t remember most be unimportant and you can survive without it.

8. Now, I'm ready

Once you have left your home and are headed for your final destination, you realize that you have indeed forgotten about something important. You start running back to your place, in order to make up for the time that you are losing, and once you get there you grab the item and start running all the way until you have reached your destination.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
