The 7 Chakras And How To Embrace Them

The term chakra literally means a spinning a wheel. These seven spinning wheels are aligned in a linear fashion at the spine. Starting at the base of the of spine, the chakras travel up to right above the head. To better visualize a chakra, one should imagine a swirling energy force where matter and consciousness meet. The key of the chakras is to make sure that one is balanced spiritually, emotionally and physically.

1. The root (base) chakra.

This chakra is located at the base of the spine, and in my opinion, is the ringmaster of the chakras. This little number can be considered a mystical energy. It is responsible for keeping the other chakras at full operating potential. The physical energy released is given off in a raw form and can be closely related to animal instincts.

2. The sexual (spleen) chakra.

Lets just say this is one chakra you do not want to throw off-balance. Located just above the sex organs, this chakra supplies most of the energy transferred during sex. The sexual chakra is responsible for being the center of creative, sexual expression.

3. The solar plexus (navel) chakra.

The solar plexus is one of the easiest chakras to release energy from, but that also makes it the most sensitive. What is so special about this chakra is that it gives the ability for one to feel and experience an out-of-body event. During a dream for example, the spirit can leave the body. The solar plexus is located midway between the belly button and bottom of the rib cage.

4. The heart chakra.

The heart chakra, also referred to as the chakra of healing, is one that is most special. Located near the heart, the optimum position is dead center and has the ability to harvest powers from the three chakras above it. The term "a broken heart" comes from the instability of the heart chakra and the fact that it literally shuts down. This causes that empty feeling that we are all very much aware of.

5. The throat chakra.

Located at the neck, the throat chakra is vital to communication, not only externally but internally. This chakra translates internal emotions that the body is feeling into external words and expressions.

6. The brow chakra.

The third eye is awakened in this chakra. The third eye gives one the power to see things beyond the normal physical senses - a source of intuition. People also refer to this as their "gut feeling". The brow chakra is the second location where the body can be exposed to an out-of-body event.

7. The crown chakra.

When fully awakened, this is the most magnificent of all the chakras to see. The crown chakra serves as the center for spiritual connection and the place where life force enters the linear chakra system. At full bloom, the chakra will resemble a crown, and that means that the individual has connected with something bigger than themselves.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
