The 7 Best Parts of Going Home

1) The comfort of driving through your home city

On your way back to your house, you get the chance to pass all of the local spots you hung out at throughout high school. You pass by your favorite coffee shops and restaurants, see them look almost exactly how you left them, and know that you’re back where you belong.

2) The first big hug moment with your parents

There might be some happy tears involved too, but home wouldn’t be complete without a warm, long hug from your family after they see you for the first time in months.

3) Your dog aggressively and lovingly jumping on you

Though it might be overwhelming, the feeling of being reunited with your favorite furry friend is easily the best part of going home. You’re flooded with kisses and cuddles, and honestly, would you want it any other way?

4) The taste of home cooked meals

It’s a hundred times better than dining hall food, or eating out, or scrambling something up very quickly on a busy night, and its some good quality home cooked food. You forget how much you missed your mom’s best recipe, until you enjoy it, once again, for the first time in forever.

5) Laundry that you don’t have to do yourself

Lets face it, we all let our bag of dirty laundry pile up so we can bring it home. We enjoy the break we get from doing our own laundry, because mom is ever so willing after not having to do it for months at a time. We also hope that the beauty of clean clothing lasts for a long time after we get back to school.

6) Not needing shower shoes

A wise man once said, “home is where the shower shoes aren’t.”

7) The warmth and comfort of your own bed

Though my dorm bed has become my new favorite place, I’ll always love not needing a step stool to get into my comfy bed at home.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
