Ever since his debut, Drake, real name Aubrey Graham, has stayed relevant. He told us he wants his success forever and how he started from the bottom and now he's here. Anytime he drops a song it takes over the Internet and the world. Within the last two weeks, four songs from "Views From the 6" have been leaked, a blessing from the 6 God himself. The songs show the range of his talents and where his music is going. But as the smoke cleared the question became, "Where's the album? — where's 'Views From the 6'?"
That was something I've been wanting to know since the Drake vs. Meek Mill situation in early 2015. A situation that highlighted the reasons you don't want to mess with Drake, the impact it had has allowed it to be carried into 2016 but that is a story for another time.
Finally, as I was looking over my Twitter feed I saw the tweet that brought light to my question, the answer that I had been waiting on. It has been confirmed that "Views From the 6" will drop April 29. Like all things that have to do with Drake, this news took flight on every social platform ever made, from Twitter to Facebook. His album is sure to be filled with bangers, that will bless him with a few Grammys in the future.
I'm not doubting that at all but the last album he put out was "What a Time to Be Alive" with Future, one of the top artists right now, and that album had many number-one songs. It took over the radio, commercials and Snapchats, you couldn't go to a party without hearing at least four or five songs from it. I'm sure that's a lot of pressure for Drake to top that album. All of his fans have been waiting on it, including the music industry. He has to keep up the pace because honestly he sets it in the music industry right now. Names such as Kanye West, Jay Z, Wizkid and others have been mentioned, and those names carry weight. So right now we'll have to wait until April 29 to see what happens.
I'm a pretty big Drake fan so of course I hope this album goes diamond. Just because he really did start from the bottom and has worked his way up in not only the music world but in every aspect. From his own clothing line, which sells out every time something goes online, to his own record label OVO which has up-and-coming artists out of Toronto, including PartyNextDoor, who knows where he's going to be in five years? Maybe on another sold out tour, making music with the top names in the game. One thing I'm sure about is that he'll still be at the top of the charts with the 6 on his shoulders.
