With the holiday season here and the increase of family get-togethers, you start to look forward to these events because of the family members you get to see. Here are some family members that most families seem to have.

1. The Cousin That's Your Best Friend

If you're lucky, you have that one cousin who you get along with really well. You like all the same weird things that no one else seems to like, and these get-togethers are a great way to bond over such things. They also help you with every part of your life and are not afraid to tell you what's up. You can't see yourself living without them.

2. The Aunt That Sneaks You Drinks

Sometimes you're lucky and you have that really cool aunt that hands you a cup of "apple juice" or "grape juice." This makes the family events a little more exciting and also makes you feel like an adult, even though you're in that awkward "technically an adult, but still sits at the kids' table" stage.

3. The Group Of Cousins You Hang Out With

These are the people you hang out with during these events, and could pretty much qualify as your second friend group. You generally all get along well since you don't spend every waking moment together and always end up having some good laughs.

4. The Grandma That's Always Worried About Your Weight

Anytime I see my grandma, there’s always the question, “Have you been eating?” Or after my first semester at college, “Looks like you’ve put on a few pounds.” Either way, there’s at least one comment that is made about weight, especially after getting into college. I never take offense to this because she is generally worried about it and will force that extra piece of pie down my throat regardless.

5. The Uncle That's Always Cracking Jokes

We all have that uncle that’s making jokes and usually, they’re targeted towards you. He has a mixture of bad jokes and some actually funny jokes. I never know how he comes up with them, and even though they’re targeted towards me, they still make me laugh.

These family members usually make events a little more enjoyable and we all can appreciate how great they are.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
