Everyone knows that the shower is where you make your most important life decisions. It’s just you, hot water, and some soap, but man does this combination get the wheels in your head turning.

What makes the shower such a place of creative enlightenment? It’s a place where the mind is free to wander and make some life-altering decisions. Everyone’s done their fair share of soul searching in the shower. It’s really a magical place.

Here’s the five thoughts you encounter while your scrub-a-dubbing.

1. The actual logistics of the shower.

This happens when you take your first step in. You think to yourself, “Good thing I’m in here. I stink and I needed this.” Then you run through whether you need to shave, and if you’re using the loofy or a washcloth.

2. Run through of your day and what's left to do.

OK, enough about the actual showering part. This stage depends on if you’re someone who starts off the day with a shower or ends it with one. Either way, you’re thinking about how your day is going to go, or how it already went. This is the ‘here and now,’ or short-term life thoughts. At this point, you’re scrubbing behind your ears.

3. Monumental decisions & life thoughts.

This is where any big decisions are made. If you have anything going on in your life that needs some thought, or maybe a tough decision that has to be made, this is when it happens. Keep lathering up that hair with some more suds if it needs some more thinking time.

4. Oh crap, I've been in here for awhile.

Rinsing the shampoo out of your hair, you realize “I should probably get out, I’m using up all of the hot water.”

5. Back to reality

The water shuts off, and you need to wrap yourself up in a towel. “Time to get on with the rest of this day (or night).”

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
