First comes sleep, then comes the summertime sadness.

5 Stages Of Coming Home From College, As Told By Grey's Anatomy
ScreenRant

Every college student knows the struggle of going home for summer break. First, you have to move everything out of your dorm. After moving out of your dorm you then have to move everything back into our childhood home (or in some cases your first grown-up home!). During this process you have to be careful not to leave random things from college strewn around the house (parents don't like that much). Finally, you are left to figure out what the rest of the summer has to offer.

Your summer may be divided into several stages. I will explain these stages through out good friends from Grey's Anatomy.

1. You move home and catch up on the sleep that was lost from hell… AKA finals week.

Sleep is far and in-between during finals week. The last final you have feels like you are walking in from a hazy dream wondering who and where you are?!

2. You then begin to wonder how much you will actually get done this summer.

If you're like me I am always keeping myself busy. This includes getting ahead for the following year, catching up with old friends, or working. BUT, for some people this just means looking for, and landing a summer job.

3. You begin to enjoy doing nothing…nothing at all.

Although I have taken summer classes since I graduated High School, it is the best feeling having a few weeks before those classes begin and after they end to do absolutely nothing. Always remind yourself that it is ok to have days like this! Once school begins, these days will be few and far between.

4. Once July begins, you begin to stress about how quickly school is approaching… but the Summer just began?

It is OK. Although school is closer than you expected, this is the time to get organized for the next semester so you are not as stress the day of move in.

5. Although being at home with your family has been fun and refreshing, you are very ready to be back at school to with your people.

I know for me I love being home and spending time with my family, and especially my brother who I don't have the chance to see during the school year. Although, at the very end of the summer you begin to get an "itch". This "itch" makes you feel ready to move back to school. At this point you are excited to update your new dorm room, see your friends, and are actually kind of excited to begin your fall classes. This is the bittersweet end of summer.

Although it is kind of depressing that summer is coming to an end, just remember that the school year will fly by, and soon enough, Summer will come again.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
