Nobles County Integration Collaborative (NCIC) arranges activities that will create multicultural awareness and understanding of cultural awareness and integration. They are a mixture of six school districts that have students within the Nobles County community including Worthington, Adrian, Heron-Lake Okabena, Fulda, Ellsworth, Round-Lake Brewster.

NCIC goals are to...

Maximize cultural awareness and integration

More Variety, Better Society: a lack of diversity can impair one's level of cultural awareness – BVSW News

They provide an expansion of opportunities that increase cultural awareness and integration, make schools more welcoming, and produce diverse people together in pursuit of common goals. They also supply intercultural, multi-district learning experiences that help embrace cultural awareness and integration themes.

Provide student success

Student Success Act (lane.edu)

NCIC helps to push student success and learning through out-of-school activities to get rid of barriers, increase access to opportunities, develop life skills, and highlight the value of education of life. They also organize out-of-school-time programs that engage students to develop valuable life skills, maximize academic success, expand cultural knowledge, prepare them for college and career, as well as develop leadership skills. Not only do they help students with all the above, but they also offer access and opportunities through experiential learning experiences and to process interaction with students to develop valuable life skills.

Provide professional development

Professional Development Solutions - Total Training Solutions, Inc.

NCIC provides staff development opportunities for adult residents to increase cultural knowledge and focus on gaining diverse learners. They also offer staff development pieces of coaching for faculty staff in member districts especially related to intercultural development and shutting achievement gaps. They also collaborate with and encourage administrators in member districts to increase the amount of racially diverse professionals working and volunteering within the member school districts.

Increase family engagement

The NCIC also increases the involvement of parents and members of the family within the education of their children. They also offer programs in multiple languages to increase parent's knowledge of the education system and ways to help their children to achieve success at school. NCIC engage parents through learning and volunteering opportunities as well. There are planned out strategies to help diverse parents beat cultural and language barriers to help children to learn and to experience academic success.

Reduce achievement gaps

Lastly, they plan out methods that increase the achievement of protected class students and cut back achievement gaps. They also offer additional academic support throughout the day to students performing below grade level, as well as organize a summer literacy program for preschool and/or early elementary students.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
