I recently binge watched the entire FOX comedy series “New Girl”. I realized after watching that I had a favorite show again, the before being “How I Met Your Mother” which ended a few years ago now. The entire cast goes together so well and there is never a dull moment throughout the five current seasons. So, as a result here are the five best things about the FOX comedy “New Girl”. Warning, this article contains some spoilers.
1. Winston and Ferguson

Winston actually steals Ferguson from a girl he dated for some time during the series named Daisy. Ferguson, in a way is a lot more like his partner in crime than a cat. Winston does everything with the cat, symbolizing Winston’s loneliness. Ferguson disappears when Winston finds someone new.
2. True American

True American is a drinking game that the cast plays throughout the series. The drinking game is absolutely crazy, it includes… Drinking, chairs, pillows, secrets, America, and confusion. The game always brings the cast together in the darkest times and the best of times. The game has also created plots and scenarios for numerous episodes.
3. The Script
The writing in New Girl is simply fantastic. Each episode is filled to the brim with great humor and rich plot. The show is written by Elizabeth Meriwether, who wrote the script for the movie “No Strings Attached” starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman.
4. The Loft / Apartment 4D

Most of the action throughout the series takes place in the loft that Jess, Nick, Winston, and Schmitt live in and later CeCe. The drinking game “True American” is sometimes played here and episodes usually start and end at the loft, on most occasions.
5. Schmitt
![]()
My personal favorite character throughout the entire series. Schmitt is a neat freak, ladies man, and a complete douchbag. Schmitt cares too much of what people think and once was quite a chubby guy; during the flashbacks. My favorite part about Schmitt though is his moxie and how he handles situations. Sometimes, he is cool and gets the job done. Other times, he blows the entire situation out of the water and creates new obstacles for himself and everyone else in the loft. My personal favorite scene with Schmitt is in one of the first episodes and is part of a flashback in the final episode in the fourth season. When Schmitt first meets Jess’
best friend CeCe he says to her “Girl, I’m gonna marry you”, that line truly has meaning later on and let me tell you… It is a tear jerker.
