When I got to college, I realized something very important about myself: I’m a pizza snob. And I 100 percent blame my hometown of Freehold, New Jersey for that. But when you come from a place with so many great pizzerias, you’re bound to criticize the limited options in the area around your college. No matter how many of my friends make fun of me for being so picky about my pizza, I'll continue to remind them that my quest for the perfect slice always leads me back to Freehold. So here are, in my opinion, the top five best pizza places in town (in no particular order):

Dusal's

If you're a Freehold native like I am, you probably spent a lot of Friday nights (especially during lent) here. For me, this is one of the best pizza places in Freehold because the sauce is amazing. And even better, the pizza always has a perfect sauce to cheese ratio, something a lot of pizzerias in other places just don't always get right. Be sure to order a plate of fried calamari with your pie; it's rumored to be the best in town!

Baco's

Just look at all those options! Pizza lovers will swoon when they walk in and see this beautiful assortment of different types of pies. So many choices for toppings! But if you're less adventurous like I am, the classic plain pizza is still incredible! Be sure to avoid eating there when the Barkalow has a half day though, because it’ll be crawling with middle-schoolers (unless your a middle-schooler and want to run into half your grade).

Federici's

This is by far the best thin crust pizza I've ever had. And since it's thin crust, you can totally justify eating half a pie by yourself...okay, an entire pie...fine, maybe two when you're really in the pizza-eating zone. In the spring and summer, grab a seat outside and you'll feel like you're sitting in a trattoria on the streets of Italy. In the winter, the restaurant is beautifully decorated for Christmas, and as soon as you step outside you'll find yourself in the glow of the enchanting lights of Main Street and the Christmas tree in front of the Hall of Records.

Romeo's

Where for art thou perfect pizza slice? Here! For those of you who are more passionate about pizza than Romeo was about Juliet, this is the perfect pizzeria for you. Another place with amazing sauce! And for those of you who love a good crust, you'll certainly be pleased with this pizza!

Krispy Pizza

Although one of the newer places on this list, it quickly earned its spot in the top five because of it's delicious New York style pizza. And it's location is prime: right within walking distance of iPlay America. So whether you're going to iPlay on a date, bringing your kids or younger siblings on the Go Karts, or finishing working a long shift there to pay for your first car, you have to stop at Krispy before heading home!

So there you have it: the five best pizza places in town and the reason why my heart (and my stomach) will always be in good ole Freehold, New Jersey.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
