It's months into 2016 and we have already seen some of the newest phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S7; and we have yet to see other anticipated phones, such as the highly anticipated iPhone 7.
Here are my reviews of the newest and best phones, so far, of 2016.
Google Nexus 6p.
Coming in at $500, Google's newest phone has received a lot of hype. It features a metallic case that feels clean in your hand as well as a 5.7 inch cinematic display that looks amazing. One of its best features is the upgraded camera which has 1.55 pixel sizes and an astonishing 4K resolution. The Google Nexus has also switched to a USB type-C charger which means there is no more guessing which way is up for the charger, much like the iPhone. The most unique aspect of the Nexus 6 is the fingerprint scanner featured on the back of the phone allowing for easier scanning than most Android phones. This Android comes loaded with the newest Android operating system, Marshmallow and a snapdragon 810, making this a very powerful phone.
HTC 10.
With the release of this phone coming on April 12, not all of the specs have been released, but many are calling this a simple clone of HTC's phone before it. It has the same metallic rounded shape and rather small 5.7 inch screen and a rather plain 12 MP camera. Its memory system is still up to par with 32 Gigs of internal storage with 4 gigs of RAM. I personally am not a fan of their fingerprint scanner, in order for it to read you have to hold the phone awkwardly up to your index finger in order to get a good read on it, unlike the Nexus or the classic iPhone. One thing HTC brags about in this phone is the fast charging, a reported 80 percent charge in only 30 minutes, but a fast charge normally means a short battery life.
Microsoft Surface Phone.
Everything about this possible phone is a myth, but if it looks the same as this concept model, it may be the best looking phone for sale. Rumors suggest 128GB of storage and a ridiculous 21 MP rear-facing camera along with an 8 MP front-facing one. This phone would also come with a surface pen, truly making this the phone that would replace your tablet. Seeing this is a concept phone, sizes and screen resolution have yet to be released, but this is a phone everyone should keep their eye on for the future.
iPhone 7.
Knowing Apple, this phone probably won't be released until the fall of 2016, and Apple hasn't released any enticing features for the phone. Some experts expect it to have a much thinner design, but the same overall size as the 6s, a new dual lens camera allowing for sharper images, upgraded processor, and the most ridiculous rumor: no head phone jack. Everything about the new iPhone seems pretty standard, but I would never buy a phone with out a headphone jack. Yeah, Bluetooth headphones are nice, but the nicest of headphones require an auxiliary cord in order to get the cleanest sound through. If you ask me, I think a jack-less phone would simply be in order to boost the sales of Apple's new wireless Beats headphones.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The phone people are already saying might win phone of the year, Samsung's newest flagship phone is one to talk about. The biggest feature to brag about it's water proof capability, the Galaxy S5 was the first waterproof Samsung phone but without the protective flap over the charging port it wasn't very waterproof. This phone, however does not need any case or further protection to allow it to be completely submerged in water and continue to work fine. Samsung is also proud of their dual pixel 12 MP camera that allows for easy photography in the dark. The phone comes with 32 GB storage, but they also allow for an easily replaceable micro SD card slot that can add an additional 200 GB of storage to your phone. The down sides of this phone are the rather vanilla processors in it, and I personally do not think the phone looks as good as it can.
