When you’re a homebody, it doesn’t mean that you are antisocial or an introvert, it just means that you might spend a larger percent of your day at home than out and about. As a homebody myself, I enjoy getting out and experiencing new things, but there’s nothing quite like coming home, being comfortable, and getting to do do what you want at home. Here are the top 4 hobbies that most homebodies love to do when comfy at home.

1. Drawing / Painting

Just because you like being at home doesn’t mean that you can’t let your creative juices flow. I love the days when I have enough free time to sketch in a notebook or get out canvas and paint whatever I’m feeling. It gives me a great mental escape from schoolwork and other tasks that busy my days.

2. Reading

When I have I get a new book, whether physical copy or on my phone, I get enthralled into the story. This hobby pairs extremely well with homebodies because in a flash you can let hours and hours pass when reading from a good book or story. And now with technology, it’s so easy to keep your reading addiction going right in the cozy spot in your home.

3. Cooking / Baking

For those that lean towards more “hands on” activities, you might be the type of person to either cook or bake in your free time. As much as I love going out for dinner, there’s such a great satisfaction that comes with cooking in your kitchen, maybe for just you or for your friends as well. And countless amounts of baked goods in your home all the time?? If this is your go-to hobby, your home must smell absolutely amazing.

4. Napping

And finally, the staple hobby of most all homebodies and most students in general is napping. There is nothing better than getting home from a long day of classes, work, or a rough day maybe and then curling up in your favorite spot to take a nice little cat nap. It’s a cure all and an A+ hobby. I know that if I get the chance to, I will nap in heartbeat, no matter where I am. (Yes, I have fallen asleep at the library before.)

Homebodies aren’t any less well-rounded than any other person, but we do have the best hobbies. Being able to do various things in the comfort of your own home is enough to make anyone skip out on a night out on the town to curl up at home. After cooking, after napping, after painting, and after reading, being home and doing what you love is a great feeling.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
