There are so many Christmas movies out there to choose from. Most people will just leave their TV on the Hallmark Channel and watch one of their nightly Christmas love stories that almost always ends up with the boy and girl living happily ever after. Not that those aren’t great, but they can get kind of old after the second or third one. Here is a list of three Christmas movies that you will be able to enjoy from your childhood all the way through adulthood.
1. Elf
Elf is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. Buddy is hilarious, but he's also inspirational. He teaches us simple life lessons: we should smile a lot more than we do, we should compliment one another more often, and that family truly means everything. This movie is sure to put a smile on the faces of kids and adults alike.
2. National Lampoon Christmas Vacation
This movie is great because it shows that someone's idea of imperfection can still be perfect for someone else. The Griswold family is far from perfect, with all of the grandparents fighting all the time to cousin Ed's crazy antics. But in the end, they're family and that's perfect for them. They all come together in the end to sing the National Anthem under the stars while they’re all surrounded by police. If that’s not family, I don’t know what is.
3. The Santa Clause
The Santa Clause movies were so important to me when I was growing up. I was just a kid when the first one came out so I would always imagine that I was Charlie and that I got to fly with Santa to his workshop and meet all his elves (doesn't hurt that my dad's name is Scott too). Scott provides a lot of comic relief during this movie that keeps people on their toes, from his sassy remarks about Neil, and to his hysteria regarding becoming Santa Claus. The sequels to this movie are also pretty good, with Scott looking for love in the second movie and almost losing his position as Santa in the third.
