Whether you are a college student who's parents won't let you go to Panama City or a small family who decided that they were going to skip the Disney vacation, you might have choose Sarasota, Florida, as your Spring Break destination. And only in the past few years has Sarasota received notoriety for being a popular spot to spend the weeklong vacay. Here’s a few things you might consider doing if you are planning to spend some time in the 941.

Life is better at the beach

In 2015 TripAdvisor named Sarasota’s Siesta key Beach the #1 beach in the U.S. It’s famous for the powdery white sand that stretches for miles. Its great for building sandcastles and playing games like beach volleyball and beach paddleball. Also, if you are around Sunday night, you could go to the Siesta Key drum circle that kicks off the sunset. It attracts many people and turns into a fun local jam out. Moreover, the Siesta Key Public Beach has just finished renovations. The parking lot has doubled, making it easier to go to park and go.

Treat yo self!

In Sarasota you can find a plethora of shops and restaurants. St. Armand’s Circle has amazing spots for meals with a wide range of choices such as Shore, Tommy Bahama, and The Colombia. St. Armand’s is also the home of the cutest shops where you could get a nice new pair of sunglasses or artisanal soap.

You might also find a huge range of choices for spas, nail salons, hair salons, and massage studios.

Those who love to shop must make a stop at the University Town Center Mall that has over 100 shops and restaurants.

Feeling adventurous?

If you are someone who needs action and adventure to have fun, don’t worry! Sarasota offers all kinds of activities. You can see it from a bird’s-eye view while parasailing along the coast. There are many places to rent jet-skis, paddleboards, kayaks, and boats. You may consider going tubing or fishing. There are endless possibilities to get your blood pumping.

Craving some culture?

Sarasota is the home of the Ringling Museum where you can find an array of artwork varying from Renaissance and Baroque to Modern Art. The Ringling grounds are also the location of the Circus Museum where you can learn about the roots of the famous Ringling Circus.

The Historic Sarasota Opera house is a popular spot to feel fancy and catch a classical show but if you are feeling a bit more contemporary, you might want to check out what is playing at the Florida Studio Theatre or the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall where you may typically find local plays or touring Musicals. And if you’re feeling silly there is always Drag Queen Bingo at the Player’s Theatre on Friday nights.

So if you are looking for something easy and fun to do for Spring Break, Sarasota could be a great destination. It has everything you could possibly want for a vacation.

However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
