In case it hasn't hit you like a ton of bricks yet, the decade is almost over. This was the decade that we met our best friends in and had our first love in. We collected silly bands and watched Disney Channel until we were blue in the face. We had playdates and sleepovers. We jammed out to Hannah Montana and felt our heart grow three sizes when we pined over the Jonas Brothers in Camp Rock. There are a million memories chained to this decade. From falling in love with sports to crying over the first person that ever broke our heart, this was the decade we really grew up in.
As we entered junior high, we felt our first feelings of insecurity. Our innocence slowly faded away, and we started to deal with the real world. High school brought more drama, but also revealed more and more to us about who we wanted to be. We quickly realized that it was nothing like High School Musical and that we probably weren't gonna meet our Troy or Gabriella. Don't even get me started on our first heartbreaks. Those tore us apart and pushed us into different directions. From there we learned how to pick ourselves up and keep going. Some of us lost loved ones. Everyone made mistakes and learned about life in our most vulnerable years.
Most of us graduated high school. We met new beginnings as we learned how to navigate fresh places and make new friends. throughout this decade, we had some of the best days of our lives. Notice how I said some. I believe that although the 2010's were full of so much happiness, better days are coming. This decade was a period of trial and error. We made decisions that the people we are now would never make again. Reminiscing our childhood is nostalgic and fun, but don't be afraid of what the next decade will bring.
