Just in case you do not follow myself on social media or you are not a fan of the band, The 1975 just had a unique and beautiful performance over the weekend.
They were invited to play with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in London on Friday, September 30th. This performance has been one that the band along with the orchestra, has been rehearsing for months on end to prepare for. They brought along their new unique sound from the new album they have been promoting this past year and will continue touring into 2017, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful, Yet So Unaware of It. The set was broadcasted worldwide from BBC's website.
This show contained stage visuals and new additions to the set list that fans might not have been able to see live yet. The pairing of the orchestra and the band was spectacular. Lead singer of the band, Matty Healy was emotional before and during the show telling BBC radio, "I was crying today, at times. It’s the first time I've wanted to do another run through of a soundcheck. It was incredible."
The 1975 also covered One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" and Justin Bieber's "Sorry." These are both songs that Healy and Co. have covered live before, but this performance was 100 times more intense and emotional.
The band has received many phenomenal reviews and praise from the show, even from previous critics of theirs. It is much deserved especially after being nominated for the Mercury Prize Award for the best album of 2016 in their home of Great Britain.
2016 has been a great year for the group in means of numbers, success and transition. 2017, as Healy has just announced via twitter, will have new material and much more to follow.
