Review: TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME-The 1975

The 1975 is a British band, that performs music with a 70's/80's vibe to it. The lyrics usually consist of sexuality, politics or life as a young adult in the modern culture.

This year, The 1975 has released now 3 very different feeling songs. "Give Yourself A Try" was a harsher song with heavy guitar, all about getting older and trying new things. Where "Love It If We Made It" was a much more thought-provoking song, a more serious piece of music, with more of a social and political theme.

"TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME" is a flow-y electronic-pop song with smooth lyrics. The song is about fidelity, where Matty is singing about calling another girl while in a relationship.

The introduction is 30 seconds long, a bit longer than most songs currently being put out. But around half way through said introduction, the tempo picks up and gives the listeners a taste of what the songs beat is, with the melody being a smooth transition between the white noise that starts the song, something The 1975 puts in a lot of their music.

Matty's vocals are a bit electronic sounding for my taste, I would much rather have raw vocals than something that sounds overly auto-tuned.

Overall, the song is clever, catchy, and makes you think about how cheating can change the dynamics of a relationship, and what constitutes cheating in the eyes of each individual person. The chorus of the song is amusing and right on beat where it shows the meaning of the song on its arms.

[Chorus]

I swear that I only called her one time
Maybe it was two times?
I don't think it was three times
It can't be more than four times
I think we need to rewind
You text that boy sometimes!
Must be more than three times!
I didn't mean to too time, too time you

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
