The 13 Most Iconic Brooke Davis Quotes
Pintrest

While One Tree Hill ended its nine season run in 2012, the WB turned CW show remains one of the most popular teen dramas thanks to Netflix. The show consists of many characters that we love and some that we love to hate, but one character that managed to steal the hearts of fans everywhere is Brooke Penelope Davis. The character, played flawlessly by Sophia Bush, starts the series as a popular high school cheerleader with a mean side, but eventually becomes an independent and successful entrepreneur and fashion designer. Brooke debatably has one of the best character developments of all time, as well as some of the best quotes of all time. Whether you grew up with the show during its original run or binge-watched it on Netflix, here are the 13 B. Davis quotes that prove she’s the best.

1. “People who are meant to be together always find their way in the end."

Fate has a funny way of working things out and even though Brooke was only a high school student when she told Lucas this in Season 1, she had the right idea. While Brooke and Lucas don’t end up being meant to be, she finds someone who’s way better for her, anyways.

2. “Someone once said, “It’s the good girls who keep diaries. The bad girls never have the time.” Me… I just wanna live a life I’m gonna remember. Even if I don’t write it down.

It’s okay to not play by the rules if they’re going to get in the way of your happiness. The best memories are made while you’re living in the moment, not when you’re documenting them on your phone or in your diary if you’re stuck in 2004 like Brooke when she said this.

3. "Once you lose yourself, you have two choices: find the person you used to be, or lose that person completely."

We all go through phases in our lives when we change, but it's not always for the better. When you feel you’ve lost the person that you used to be, you can reinvent yourself or try to be the person you once were. The choice is tough, but it’s your choice alone to make.

4. “We all can use a little hope sometimes, you know. That feeling that everything's going to be okay and that there's going to be someone there to help make sure of that.”

We all feel lost at times and sometimes the best way to find hope is through the people you love. Brooke says this during Nathan and Haley’s second wedding reception and in that moment she looks at two of her closest friends to find the hope she needs.

5. “If you are fat, sexual, dumb, and a guy, y0u're okay. If you're a girl, not so much.”

Misogyny is real and high school Brooke Davis was not afraid to point it out. Brooke is no stranger at being judged for doing the same things guys get praised for. No matter what your gender is, we’re all equal and deserve to be treated that way.

6. “I am who I am…no excuses. But I’d like other people to know that there’s a lot more to me than just some party girl.”

Such a simple quote, yet so important. Never apologize for who you are and the past mistakes you’ve made. Just because other people don’t like how you act doesn’t mean that their opinion is any more important than your own.

7. “I learned something. People are gonna label you. But it's how you overcome those labels. That's what matters.”

The only person’s opinion that should ever matter to you is your own. To people that don’t know Brooke Davis personally, she is probably your average high school mean girl, but to the ones she loves she is a fiercely loyal friend. You are more than what other people think of you.

8. “Okay, then let me ask you something. What is gonna make you happy, Peyton? Is it how you look? Or the car you drive or the people you know? Is it money or celebrity or power or accomplishments? Because I have all those things and I don't think it's enough.”

Success is nice, but it isn’t everything. After high school, Brooke succeeds in everything she wants for herself. She’s a famous fashion designer living a glamorous life in New York City, but it’s still not enough to make her happy. Material items are nice, but they can’t give you the love and home you truly need.

9. “She said your chances are one in a million. And I said maybe I'm that one, and she said you're not. And she was wrong. And whatever she thought she saw in me, was wrong. Because I am one in a million.”

As she proves time and time again, your character is not determined by the opinion of other people. If someone tells you that you can’t do something, succeed at it and prove them wrong. Sometimes the best motivation comes from someone else’s doubt.

10. "Let me tell you something about love, Millicent Huxtable. It does not knock often. And when it does, you have to let it in."

When it comes to love, B. Davis is no stranger to heart break. With that in mind, she knows how special it is. She encourages her assistant and friend to move out of town to be with her boyfriend, even though Brooke desperately needs her to help with her company. Love should be prioritized of everything, especially work.

11. “Sometimes my heart aches at how my life has turned out, in a good way. It doesn't mean there haven't been hardships, there have been, but I'm here and here is good.”

Life doesn’t always turn out the way we want it to and that’s okay. Sometimes the worst experiences lead to the best outcomes. Never regret your past because without it, you wouldn’t have the present that you currently do.

12. “I wished for this. Right here without even knowing it. I wished for you and our family and this. Ever since New York I wanted to come home. I just knew in my heart that there was treasure here, and I found it. In our sons. In my parents. In you. This house always wanted to be a home and now it will be. Our home. Everyone should have that, a place that makes them happy.”

When Julian, Brooke’s husband, surprises her by buying her childhood home for them and their sons to live in, she has one of the most important revelations of all. Houses don’t make homes, families do.

13. "If you had a friend you knew you would never see again what would you say? If you could do one last thing for someone you love what would it be? Say it, do it, don’t wait. Nothing lasts forever."

Throughout the nine year run, many of Brooke's friends move on from Tree Hill. She knows not to take her friends for granted. Do everything you can for your loved ones. You never know what’s going to happen in life. Live in the moment and spend time with the ones that matter the most to you.

Brooke Davis is more than just a fictional character; She’s an icon. Next time you’re in need of some inspiration, grab some comfort food and binge-watch One Tree Hill. You’ll inevitably find a Brooke Davis quote incredibly relatable to your situation or you’ll just be inspired by her character development. The character may be long gone, but she will live in our hearts forever.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
