For many of us, summer is quickly coming to an end which means gathering your things for college, buying books, and getting excited to see your friends again. But are you really ready for summer to be over? Has it even hit you yet? Here are the 12 stages of (grief? excitement?) summer coming to a close.
1. The realization that summer is actually almost over.
Am I happy? Am I sad? It all happened so fast.
2. When you told yourself you were going to go out, spend time at the beach, or try new things this summer, but you spent 80 percent of summer in bed instead.
I thought about going out and doing stuff. That counts, right?
3. When you realize your workout plans were a total bust.
Summer food means the best food. I can't say no to hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, and home-cooked meals.
4. Being excited to go back to school so you can see your friends again.
We are going to have so much to catch up on.
5. Buying textbooks.
Goodbye every penny I saved; I hope these textbooks have the cure for cancer in them.
6. Packing.
Hopefully I don't forget socks again this year.
7. The last day of your summer job.
Goodbye paycheck. Goodbye customers. Goodbye extra cash.
8. Having to leave your pets.
How much is the fine for a RA finding a pet in your room? I think it's worth it.
9. Realizing you're going to be eating in the dining hall again.
Goodbye mom's cooking. You will truly be missed.
10. The reality that you will have to get up for class again soon starts to sink in.
Why did I take that 8 a.m. again?
11. Leaving your hometown.
I always miss my cute little town in Alabama when I leave. There is just nothing quite like it.
12. Getting back to your usual routine at school.
Oh, college, how we love you!
