The 12 Stages Of Big-Little Crafting

Sorority girls look forward to gift week all year round. It is an amazing experience to express your love for your little by spending every waking minute of a week creating masterpieces. Every big will go on an emotional roller coaster and go through these stages while crafting. In the end, the look on our little's face when she sees her gifts is and runs to you at big reveal makes it all worth the while.

1. The Pinterest Stage

When you first find out you got a little, the first place you turn for craft ideas is Pinterest. You are beyond excited for all the possibilities.

2. The "I'm In Way Over My Head" Stage

After going through Pinterest and pinpointing all the crafts you want to make, you still wind up with a list three pages long. Then you think to yourself: "with what time and money will I ever get this done?!"

3. The Buy-Everything-In-The-Store-And-Change-All-Your-Original-Plans Stage

As soon as you get to the craft store, everything looks cute and you come up with 10 new ideas. You might as well have not even brought a list of plans or a budget for that matter.

4. The "I'm Broke But It's Fine" Stage

You had to call your parents to beg them to transfer money to your account so you could afford all the crafting supplies and now you probably can't afford food for the next month, but that's okay because your little is going to love you and that is all you need in the world.

5. The "I Can Do This...I'm Van Goh" Stage

When you are back from the store and you sit down and get ready to begin your first craft, you become very confident in your abilities. You are determined to paint the perfect canvas. If Michelangelo could do it then so can you.

6. The "Never Mind... I Suck At This" Stage

After a few brush strokes, you realize that you are not in fact as talented as Michelangelo. Your craft looks much more like a 5 year-old child's finger painting.

7. The "Who Needs To Study Anyways" Stage

You have a test coming up but you have your priorities straight. Crafting comes first.

8. The "Just Kidding... I Should Have Studied For That" Stage

You get a real big reality check when you fail that test you didn't study for. Your little better love you a lot for this.

9. The Never-Want-To-See-Glitter-Again Stage

Once you start finding glitter in your bed sheets and in your bra, you realize that this crafting has gone way too far and you vow never to use glitter again.

10. The "Would My Little Disown Me If I Just Stopped Crafting... Isn't My Love Enough" Stage

After a few days of crafting, you are beyond tired and start questioning why you're showering them with gifts in the first place. Why can't your little love you for who you are and not for your crafting abilities?

11. The "Why Didn't I Think Of That" Stage

Once you start looking at all the other crafts laying out for the new members, you realize that your sisters are the next Michelangelo and your crafting just doesn't match up. That's alright though because you know your little will love you anyways.

12. The Can't-Wait-To-Take-Credit-For-These-Crafts Stage

Once your crafts are all finished and set up all pretty for your little to find the next day, you start to take immense pride in the blood, sweat, and tears it took to create. You cannot wait to tell your little who you are and let them know that you were the mastermind behind their perfect gifts.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
