As someone who travels a decent amount every year via airplanes, I've had my fair share of experiences on them. Here are 11 stages of the dreaded plane ride.

1. Finding your seat and praying it's not next to a screaming six-year-old

2. Settling in and and realizing that you're stuck here for the next ten hours or so (depending on where you're flying to)

3. Indulging in soda, juice, and snacks, and then having to squish your way past your neighbor to go to the bathroom

4. Not being able to sleep when everyone else is snoring already

5. Fidgeting around to get the perfect position to sleep/nap

6. Falling asleep and then being woken up for a meal

7. Not being able to fall asleep after your meal

8. Watching an inappropriate amount of movies

9. Feeling brain-dead after three movies, five rounds of sudoku, and hours of listening to the same music over and over again

10. Getting excited to leave

11. Finally getting off!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
