The horrifying weeks of midterms have finally crept into our college lives again, reminding us that college truly isn't easy, and especially isn't all fun and games. The late night cram sessions in the library and low-cost diets, I sure didn't miss it. Here are the 10 stages you tend to go through during this enjoyable (sarcasm) week.
1. You begin to plan out your week's events in your planner, whiteboard, or wherever you may write out your plans for the week.
You then, very quickly, begin to realize just how much you have to accomplish, in such little time. Soon enough, your panic mode has been triggered.
2. You begin to study for your classes, when you hear a movie playing from afar.
You look out into your apartment's living room and realize your friends are watching a movie, and eventually get distracted into taking a study break.
3. This study break soon leads to a 3-hour study break of eating snacks and talking about each others days, when you realize you've taken a 3-hour study break.
4. Panic mode hits, once again, and you realize you should go to the library to focus.
You drive to Carrier or ECL, whichever you prefer, then sit down in your typical area and attempt to study.
5. You then run into friends at the library, and give each other that "help me" look because you all realize how stressed out everyone truly is (since you're all in the same boat).
6. As you're, so amazingly, doing a great job of focusing you begin to feel a little hangry.
You drive back home and realize, there's no time to sit and eat, so you make an extremely fast meal.
7. The mounting flashcards and slides of PowerPoint seem to be never-ending, and it all becomes extremely overwhelming.
You eventually feel like you're practically drowning in information when you want to give up. So, you give yourself a quick 5-minute pep talk and move on with life.
8. You realize you don't actually understand what you're studying, so you ask for help, and it doesn't help.
9. Coffee becomes your life, because sleep is at a minimum this week, and emotions are at a halt because there truly is no time for emotions.
10. Exam time approaches, and it's go time.
After this exam you can reward yourself with a long nap, order of Tutti Gusti mozzarella sticks, and an episode of "Stranger Things" because the worst is over! (For a couple weeks at least)
