The 10 Best Songs When You Don't Understand God's Plan
Not on the high street

On average, each individual in the world spends 25 hours per week listening to music. We can always strangely remember song lyrics better than anything else. Therefore, when something happens in my life, good or bad, there is usually a song I can pick out that relates to it perfectly, as I am sure everyone can! I have compiled a list of songs that I find help me make it through when life hits me hard and I don't understand God's plan. I didn't always listen to worship music (in fact I thought it was a little corny when someone first told me that they did) and now I listen to it almost everyday. Even if you are someone who is not big on praying or talking to God, listening to music is an awesome way to connect with Him (yes, GOD LOVES MUSIC). I lost touch with God for most of my high school career, and listening to music was actually how I was able to connect with Him again.

It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Some of these songs are so real and raw and convey exactly what I am feeling. Now these are just SOME of my favorites, and there are many more and even different genres of worship music. Don't be afraid to look, you may surprise yourself.

1. Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey

This life will shatter you and bring you to your knees. Pray while you’re there. God will help you put the pieces back together if you let Him. Pain is part of life, even when it breaks your heart. Take time to grieve, but don’t stay there forever. You can make it through and let your heart start beating again.

2. Come As You Are by Crowder

No matter if you have sinned, whether you are brokenhearted, weary, suffering, struggling to make it through, earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. You don’t have to be perfect, because NOBODY is. You are not too far gone. Come as you are, because God is not ashamed of you.

3. Rise by Danny Gokey

This is one of the best fight songs when you don’t understand His plan. Remember: when you fall, that just means YOU WILL RISE. Rise and keep fighting.

4. Mended by Matthew West

No matter how broken or far gone you think you are, there is ALWAYS hope. No matter what you’ve done, God sees you for the miracle you are. You are not wounded. You are not broken. You are mended.

5. Thy Will by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family

Remember that He is God and you are not. You may not understand His plan, and you may be so confused but you have to trust His will, because He has a plan. Sometimes you see it right away, sometimes not for years, and you honestly may never figure it out until you get to heaven. Trust His will.

6. Chain Breaker by Zach Williams

When life gets monotonous and you don’t know where to turn, God can take your pain, open doors, and break the chains that are shackling you to where you are.

7. King of the World by Natalie Grant

Sometimes we cannot comprehend just how great God really is, and we try to put Him in this box in our head, this idea of exactly who He is. But He is so much greater and therefore loves us so much more than we can even understand, no matter who we are. We think we have all the answers, but we have to remember that God is the King of the World and we do not have to be afraid of that.

8. Strong Enough by Matthew West

When we go through troubles, we may ask God why He is giving us something that we cannot handle. But the thing is, that’s the point. We cannot handle life’s burdens on our own. We can take refuge in the fact that God is our strength. Yes, we choose to work hard, to move on, to keep fighting, but God will help us with every step if we let Him. He is always strong, even when we are weak.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

9. Never Been a Moment by Micah Tyler

“Where you only see one set of footprints, that is where I carried you.” Through both good and bad times, God is with us always. When we think we are at our greatest, He is with us, and when we think we are at our worst, He is with us.

10. Cast My Cares by Finding Favour

Give your worries and troubles to God…He can take it. Even when you cannot understand His plan, send up your doubts, fears, and worries, even if they’re about His plan. He won’t be offended.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
