“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” – Maya Angelou
Love. There’s so much I can say about this word because it can hold so much weight. Simply put, love is a strong word. But, the question is, what is love to you?
In my opinion, love is not just a feeling. No, love is so much more than that. Love…..is a choice. I know some of you may be scratching your head, and probably wondering what the heck I am even talking about. But just hear me out. Or read, whatever suits your fancy.
A lot of people mistake love to be this constant euphoric feeling, that whenever you think about the person in question, you’re supposed to get the butterflies, the excitement, the giddiness that they show you in your favorite romantic comedies.
More specifically, being in love is being on cloud nine. All the time. But in reality, love is a choice.
Feelings are ever changing. You may be in love this week, and next week you may see your significant other and wonder why they are still breathing your air. But despite the utter aggravation you may feel for them, or anyone else you may love, you choose to love them despite it all.
There are more degrees and levels to the noun, ones I will actually touch on at another time. So my parting question is, again: what is love to you?
