To My Mother

You deserve the world because that's exactly what you've given me.

Mom,

Thank you for being my mom, and not only my best friend. The older I get the more I appreciate all of the things you did for me and continue to do for me. i admire that you were and still are able to hold to your word that you will always put the job as being my mother before your job as being my friend.

You're the first perosn I text when I find out good news and the first person I call when I'm having a bad day. You're the first person I call when I need a new dinner recipe.

You were recently told by someone that our relationship is a perfect example of the famous quote "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", and I have never been more proud of a compliment. It is an honor to hear that I am so much like you, because I aspire to be the Mother that you are to my children one day. I actually fear that I don't think I have the ability to be half of a Mother as you were and still continue to be.

Life does not come with any type of manual, it only comes with a Mother who will do the best that she can to make sure their children live their lives to the fullest. One of the most important relationships we can have are the relationship with our Mothers, and I smile knowing that you are mine.

Thank you for letting me break the rules sometimes, and thank you for putting me in my place when I need a little push. Thank you for caring for me, and loving me unconditionally. Thank you for being strong for not only yourself, but for your children when you needed to be. Thank you for supporting all of my (right) choices, and thank you for having my back since day one.

There are so many things I look back on and say to myself that you were right all along, you were right about that bad boy I had a crush on and that girl I thought was the best friend ever. You were right when you told me I could do better, because here I am, doin' it better.

There are so many times throughtout my days were I find myself laughing and thinking "wow, I am so my mother right now." and it makes my heart warm.

I want you to know that every decision I make today and for the rest of my life I will always think: "what would my mom do?" or "would my mom be mad at me if she was here right now with me?"

I hope I can amount to being half the Mother you are to me, your big heart, humorous personality, and loving attitude has taught me who to be and helped me become who I am today.

Thank you for being the best Mother I could ever dream of having and thank you for always risking all you have to make my life easier. Because of you I know I will never fall, or if I do, I know that you'll be there to catch me.

I love you, Mom. Never forget that all I am, and all I will become, I can thank you for.

Xoxo,

Your beauty

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
