I know this is going to start out cheesy and corny, but this is me. Cheesy and corny, don't judge. About a week ago my life was changed. I married the man of my dreams and had the most amazing bridesmaids there with me every step of the way. My wedding party was a grand total of 18 people, Andrew and myself included! I had 8 bridesmaids and they are the most caring, selfless, fun-loving group of women I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
My group started out back around Christmas, that's when I started asking people to be a bridesmaid. I did the cute little gifts and it was easy because it was Christmas and what don't give and get gifts at Christmas time, so basically they didn't see it coming and I liked that a lot.
Next came the southern bridal show, which every bride to be goes to. Kinda, maybe, I'm actually not too sure about that but I wanted to go just to go. I already had a lot of my vendors by the time it came around but I wanted to see all the pretty things.
So of course you talk to your bridesmaids and interact with them, but I talked with mine almost every day about the wedding. This happened even more after I graduated because we were all kind of grownups (not really but we try). They all offered to help so many times I can't count it and don't worry, I gave them jobs and tasks. A lot of the planning was done by May so it was really just coming down to everything being put together.
My bridal shower was beyond perfect and my bridesmaids did an amazing job putting it together. That's honestly when I kinda knew that I picked a good group of women to stand by me throughout this process. They worked their tails off to make sure that I was happy, and I was beyond that!
Next was the infamous bachelorette party, mine was more like a trip. My girls rented a house in New Orleans and gave me a certain amount of money that I could spend of whatever I liked. That was so much fun and they all played a great part in making that come together, This is where my Maid of Honor (MOH for short) shined!!
She got to the house early and decorated it with such pretty decorations and made these amazing cupcake bites!!! The trip was so much fun and my girls made sure that I had a good time.
Lastly was the actual big day. Everything else was done and it was time for me to get married. Our wedding was at a venue that had cabins for the wedding party to stay at. The grooms cabin was on one side of the property and the girls cabin was on the other. We stayed up late and sat around the dining room table sharing funny stories and having a good laugh. In that moment was when I knew for sure, this was a greta group. Earlier I knew I had some pretty good friends, but this made me sure that my bridesmaids were some of my best friends and they always will be.
Saturday morning came around and we all got up and ate breakfast. The hair and makeup process began. It was all like something out of a movie. We took our pictures and then the ceremony began. We got through that 15 minutes of heat induced sweating and moved on to the reception. That was awesome and so much fun. My bridesmaids did everything to make sure my day was great, and it was. So this a thank you to y'all. To y'all for being more than just a friend, for being someone I can count on and for being there when I needed y'all the most. I'm so lucky and blessed to have these women in my life. Keep up with my articles to see my Wedding series coming up!
