A Letter To My Person

You are my person and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A Letter To My Person
Ailie Davidson

Everyone has a person. A person they call late at night, a person who gives the best advice, a person that deserves credit for what they put up with. You do not talk to this person every now and then, only when it is convenient for you; you need this person in your life every day. This is a person you cannot live without. This is an open letter to my person with indefinable gratitude for everything you have done for me.

To my person,

Get ready for the warm feels and grab a tissue because I need to express my gratitude for you. I recognize everything you do for me, but I know I do not thank you enough.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on, the person I can come to with my endless problems. You are not only there for the glee and the greatest memories, you are there for me when I’m in need of a pep talk, a tub of ice cream and a long lasting hug. You do not judge me for any of my problems, you just help me get through them.

Thank you for being my voice of reason, the person who gives me the best advice. Whether it is about relationships, my clothing, or if something I am about to do is stupid, you are my go-to. You are a great listener and respond with the most necessary words, even if it is not what I want to hear.

Thank you for the time you spend with me, making me a priority. Sometimes we get sick of each other because we are so close, but our annoyance always turns into laughter. Time flies when we are together, and sometimes I wish it would just slow down. Our time spent together is valued and precious, because I would not want to be spending my time with anyone else.

Thank you for binge eating food with me, and knowing my favorite snacks. After a hard day, you surprise me with my favorite treats because you know food is the best pick-me-up. The company of food enhances our time spent together as we sit on the couch and eat several bowls popcorn, watching "The Bachelor", "Fixer Upper", and "Dancing With The Stars".

Thank you for loving me for who I am, even at my darkest hour. You know my flaws, and accept them. You understand that some days I rant and yell and you are the one that is there to calm me down and tell me everything will be all right.

Thank you for putting me in my place and forgiving me for when I am in the wrong. No one is perfect, and you are not afraid to tell me when I step out of bounds. You do this for my own good and it makes me a better person and friend to you, and to all.

Thank you for laughing at me and with me. We both know that I am hilarious and do some pretty unforgettable things (like that one time I ran into a massive pole at Walmart head on, when my eyes were glued to my phone). You laugh at me for the mistakes I have made and I laugh at you for yours. We laugh together over our silliness that no one will ever be able to comprehend or understand.

Thank you for being my best friend and more. You not only exceed the expectations of a best friend, you make the title true. You are the absolute best! We make it through life together and I know you will always be by my side.

You deserve this recognition, not just because of all these things I am thankful for, but because you are the reason I am happy in life, my motivation, my purpose. You’re more than just a person to me; you are my everything. Thank you for the memories and all the experiences we have shared. You make my life exhilarating and we create memories that will last forever.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
