Being home for the holidays provides desperate college students with the break that they undoubtedly need.
1. Snacks on snacks on snacks.
Being home means that your mother has run to the store about a hundred times before you arrive at your house just to make sure that you have the snacks you like and the ingredients for your favorite dinners. This, as opposed to being in college and not having any food besides a single container of Easy Mac, is what real quality looks like.
2. Not paying for things.
Maybe you're Christmas shopping for someone with your mum/dad and you see something you would like for yourself... What happens next? Well, if you play your cards just right, there's a good chance your parent will pitch in for you in sheer love for the fact that you're home and spending time with them.
3. Grocery shopping.
Grocery shopping in college always consists of trying to be healthy but epically failing. At least when you're at home your parents do most of the shopping and they pick out the nicer, name brand items that you would probably walk by while at school because you're just too broke to afford them. On top of that, you can indulge in the things you've always loved having in the house- chocolate covered oreos, for example.
4. Your bed.
I don't think anything beats the bed that you have at home. Although my bed at school is a full, it does NOT compare to the comfiness of my full bed at home. It just does not.
5. Laundry.
Who does their own laundry while they're home? I feel sorry for you if you do. My laundry gets done by my fantastic and loving mother who knows that I sometimes neglect to do the tedious chore when I'm away at school. Thanks, mum.
6. Home-cooked meals.
I don't have to say much about this one, I don't think. The pasta I make at school with pre-made sauce will just never compare to the homemade pasta that my mum makes.
7. You are the center of attention.
Don't even try to tell me that when you're home your whole family doesn't swarm you and ask questions about college, classes, boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. You suddenly become celebrity status, and you're somewhat okay with it.
