After Halloween comes Christmas. Wait... what about Thanksgiving? The holiday celebrates a real event in American History, yet it's overlooked when Christmas commercials start playing after Halloween. Here is a list of why Thanksgiving should not be ignored.
First, what would we do without Thanksgiving food?
It's the one time of the year we can eat an abundant amount of food and not be judged. How can we live without eating turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie, and many more delicious food we see on the Thanksgiving table?
Second, we get to celebrate the holiday with our family for the first time before Christmas
From competitive Trivial Pursuit games, to watching the big football game, Thanksgiving brings the family together.
Third, Thanksgiving Decorations
Even as you take down Halloween decorations, you can still keep up decorations that are fall themed. From a scarecrow to pumpkins, Thanksgiving requires the least amount of time decorating.
Fourth, we get to take a break from school and our full time jobs for the festive holiday
Fifth, we get to enjoy the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a tradition that continues to live on!
Sixth, Black Friday shopping is essential for Christmas shopping
Just remember Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be released on Netflix that day.
Seventh, we get to sit back and enjoy movie marathons with our family
From Gone With the Wind on AMC, to The Godfather Trilogy, and even Star Wars, watching movies together brings everyone closer together.
Lastly, I always loved Thanksgiving because I get to see family before my birthday on December 2
There is nothing like your family singing happy birthday to you on Thanksgiving with your own special cake.
So stay safe say this Thanksgiving and be thankful for all the good things we have in our lives!
