Undoubtedly, Thanksgiving marks the start of the best time of the year. There's family, friends and beautiful scenery everywhere you look. Every year, the holiday season has me reflecting on what really matters and thinking about my values. Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, here are 5 things to be thankful for:
1. Be thankful for the things you have
It might be easy to focus on the things that you don't have, but if you take a step back and take a look at what you do have, life seems just a bit better. Be thankful for the phone in your hand, the roof over your head and the rights that you have; many people don't get those luxuries.
2. Be thankful for the people that love you
Give thanks to the people that hold a special place in their heart for you. They're there for you when you need them and they see you at your worst and best. For all of your family and friends who love you, give thanks.
3. Be thankful for the world that you live in
Again, it's so easy to focus on the negative aspects of life. Take a look at the beautiful earth that we live on and all that we get to see everyday. The leaves changing colors, flowers blooming and snow falling are just some of the things that you can be thankful for.
4. Be thankful for the things that make your heart swell
Nothing is better than feeling the swell of your heart when you see something good. Whatever makes you happy and makes your day a bit brighter, be thankful for that.
5. Be thankful for your life
Today, and everyday, I am thankful for the amazing opportunities that I have everyday. I'm thankful for the amazing life that I have been given, the people that love me, the beautiful world that I live in, the small things that make my heart swell and every little thing in between.
