So Halloween has passed. What now? Many people jump from this spooky holiday straight to Christmas. While I do love a "holly, jolly Christmas," it pains me to see that one of my favorite holidays is passed up. Thanksgiving is so underappreciated, especially in this day and age.
One reason Thanksgiving is pushed to the back burner is the fact that there are very few Thanksgiving songs. But there are some. Hello, "Food Glorious Food," "Count Your Blessings,"Thanksgiving Prayer" all exist, yet we don't hear them played on the radio, especially not for weeks in advance. Clearly the Christmas songs we hear are catchy and cheerful, but they overshadow this preceding holiday.

Another reason Thanksgiving is not as celebrated is the fact that stores start decorating for Christmas before Halloween is even over. Put away your Santas and blow up the inflatable turkey and put some pumpkins outside. Let's remember that Snoopy dressed up like a Pilgrim as well as Santa Clause.

Finally, people take time out of their day that is supposed to be spent with their family to go shopping for a holiday that's still a month away. Searching for something your grandma would love? I'm sure she'd love it a lot more if she spent time with you.

So, when you're all excited for December 25th, don't forget you already passed up the fourth Thursday in November without batting an eye.
