Let me tell you why I love Thanksgiving

Why I love Thanksgiving

First off, I would like to say Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday out of any other holiday. The food, the football, and the family are the main reasons why I believe it’s the greatest. I would like to start off my article by saying why I love football on Thanksgiving.

It is tradition, that my Dad and I go to the Lions game every year on Thanksgiving. Going to school in Saginaw, I don’t go to a lot of games and this is the one game I can go to. It’s a lot of fun because we first tailgate over in Eastern Market with all of the other season ticket holders and get ready for the potential disappointment. Having season tickets for the past 25 years, we have endured the worst of the worst, but by some miracle, they somewhat do well on Thanksgiving so that’s great.

After the game, we stumble home in either disgust or joy depending if we have won or lost. Then, my favorite part is Thanksgiving dinner and all of the great food that my mom cooks for us. Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, just the whole nine yards. I stuff my face until I have to unbutton my pants in pure satisfaction. This is when I am at my most content and happy throughout the whole holiday season. I know that I put work into eating all that I could because my grandma looks over and says, “Damn Brennan.” That’s when I know I have completed my objective of eating.

After dinner, I take a power nap to get back to real life and realize where I am and what I have done. After I figure out where I am, and realize how much I really did eat, we have another tradition in which we all watch "Christmas Vacation". This tradition has been going on since I was 6 years old. It’s a great movie and we all can recite the entire thing.

The most important aspect of Thanksgiving is being around those who are dear to you. My family and I have a very special bond in which we are really close and love spending time with each other. I love my family and would do anything for them. If you haven’t noticed, my last two articles were about my family because it is the holidays. I am so very grateful for having them in my life and am so grateful for everything they have done for me. It is great to have my extended family here also and not trying to bring any less attention to them, but my immediate family is my top priority. Having my family here from out of state and from around the country is great to see them after months of not being with them.

I look forward to Thanksgiving year round because of football, the food and my family. I am a huge family man an hopefully one day I’ll have a tradition with my family and would not want anything more than to do that. I love Thanksgiving and look forward to it every single year and am glad that it is that time of year again.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
