In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are some things you should try to improve on and be.
T.
Be Thankful. There may not be a lot to be thankful for, for some people, and others may have a lot to be thankful for. Either way, being gracious is always a good thing. Be thankful for the little things that you would usually take for granted like the roof over your head, for surviving your classes, and for the food on your table.
H.
Be Humble. No one likes a braggart. Humility is a fine trait to have but a rare one. We like to show off what we have and advertise it around. We do it through Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media sites all the time. We sometimes forget that there are people who don't have the same things we have, and we have to learn that there is a time and place for everything. We need to learn to be humble and even though it's hard, it's necessary.
A.
Appreciation is something that we do often. Whether it's appreciating a phone, a person, or some form of material items. We need to start appreciating one thing a little more, and that's people. Yes, we do care about people, but only the ones who are significant to us like a family or a friend. What happens to the ones who aren't related to us? The ones we aren't friends with? The ones that have no form of relationship with us whatsoever? We tend to not care for them, but we need to start appreciating all people, no matter how different from us they may be.
N.
Never Give Up. We need to be more determined. We need to set a goal and go for it no matter how hard it is, no matter how it seems like it could never happen, and no matter how many people say that you can't do it. We need to start being more proactive.
K.
Kindness is another thing that we need to show people. We don't know how a person's day has gone, so instead of being snarky or throwing shade, try being kind. Karma may reward you in positive ways.
S.
Be Spontaneous. Do something completely random. Change up your routine. Doing the same thing over and over again can get boring. You'll end up in a slump, so to avoid that add something random to your schedule that you usually don't do.
G.
Give back. Give back to your friends, family, your neighborhood, and even the world in some way. Donate money to a charity. Do some volunteer work. Help those in need. Give support to those who need it. Hold a food drive to give back in some way. People are always giving to you, it's time to start giving back as well.
I.
Be Inquiring. Why? Learning new things can be exciting. It can help us develop new skills and become the person we want to be. It can help us grow and become well rounded. It can help us find ourselves and help us see the world in a new light.
V.
Be Vibrant. Be the person that cheers up others. Be optimistic, be bright, be the person that others look up to and want to be around. Don't be a dark and gloomy person that repels others away and don't be a pessimist either. Be a person that is vibrant and open.
I.
Have Integrity. Have strong moral principals and be honest. If you see injustice don't sit around and hope that someone else speaks up, be the one to speak up. Many people are scared about how the next few years will be and so many crazy things have happened in our nation this very last year. So follow your morals, be honest, and speak your mind.
N.
Network. Make connections. The connections you make now help you go far in life. It will help you with jobs, school, etc. Networking is a major part of American society. You even learn a bit about it in sociology. So try to network more because you never know how those connections will help you in the future or what they can do for you.
G.
Gratitude. Don't think about the things you don't have, think about all the things you do have and be grateful that you have them because others may not. Take a few seconds of your day and think about the things you should be grateful for and express your gratitude for that.
Bonus:
Try to be Zealous. Be enthusiastic, eager, and fervid. Try to be intense, passionate, and warm. Though, do be warned that being too zealous isn't the greatest thing.
