In honor of Thanksgiving, which was on Thursday, I decided to write an article of what I'm thankful for, in no particular order.
1. The Internet.
Without the internet, it would be harder to do anything. It helps with schoolwork (I can't imagine how they used to write ten page research papers in the olden days without the internet). Music, Netflix, YouTube, games, and my source of entertainment are all on the internet.
2. Cars
Until October of this year, I did not have a car. I love my car, even though it has a ton of problems. I can now get to places like the mall, of the movie theatre if I wanted, and I don't have to ask a friend to drive me. I even was able to delete the Uber app from my phone!3. PhonesI have no idea how much my lovely iPhone has saved me from an uncomfortable conversation from people, made waiting in line more tolerable, and provided an escape during lectures (kidding...kind of). It also allows me to call my parents wherever I may be, which is nice when I really want to talk about something, and probably would forget by the time I saw them next, or got home to talk to them.
4. J.K. Rowling
I love her books, as ya'll probably know already. I wrote a few articles/listicles about her work. Harry Potter is important for me because it provided an escape into a magical world when I really needed it. In middle school, it was literally the most important book series that I read that year. It kept me from noticing the stupid and incredibly rude kids that used to bother me. And, prior to smart phones, is my main source of escape during a particularly boring class. Yeah, once again, I'm not that sorry. My teachers, for the most part, did not care that much that I read during their classes because I kept my grades up.5. My Family
As much as I complain about them, they're the reason why I'm still in college. They're the reason I can make my way. My parents raised me to be independent, so by the time I got to college, it felt like not much had changed. When many kids go off to college, especially in a different state, or a very long drive home, they go off the rails with their newfound freedom. I never did that, because my parents let me do my own thing, within reason, starting around when I turned nine. So by the time I was in high school, I had a bike, and could go anywhere, do anything I wanted, again, within reason. I never even had a curfew, because I never needed one. My point is, they're the reason I am here.6. Food
What, did you think I wasn't going to include this? Yeah, if you guys actually knew me, you would know that I eat. A lot. Like constantly. It used to annoy and fascinate my mother, but back then, I was in high school, and a swimmer, which burns a lot of calories. Although I don't swim that often anymore, I still bike everywhere (At least, I bike to and around campus).7. My Bike
My bike was the first form of actual transportation I had. I rode it everywhere (except to school, because I walked... Swimmer, and the pool was across the highway, so I couldn't bike). It, to this day, allows me to get to my classes on time. Without it, it would take me about 15 minutes to get from one of my classes to the next one, which is why I love my bike. I hate being late... As my mother always drilled into my head: "To be on early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late."
