PSA: Thanksgiving comes BEFORE Christmas

I love Christmas as much as the next guy. It's hard to top Christmas music and movies, the joy of giving gifts, decorating for the holiday, and Christmas church services but c'mon people just because the calendar says November 1st and Halloween is over does NOT mean you can just skip straight to Christmas. How could anyone want to surpass the most important (and best) holiday there is -- Thanksgiving.

For one day only the majority of the population participates in a holiday dedicated to being thankful for their blessings. That's right, once a year people are genuinely appreciative for everything they have, who knew this was possible? Families across the world gather not to exchange gifts but instead they get together to have a delicious meal and just enjoy each other's company. There is no pressure to pick out the perfect present, all you have to do is show up.

Besides for the honest company, the day is filled with amazing food and football, not to mention the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is on, followed by the dog show, which for reasons unknown is incredibly interesting on Thanksgiving. Torturous hours are spent smelling the mouthwatering turkey in the oven until finally you get to gather around the dining room table with the people you love the most. Stories from everyone's childhoods are shared, and countless laughs are exposed all while consuming the most wonderful meal of the year. Following your feast is a catnap, but only during football commercials. The aromatic alarm clock of sweet pumpkin pie wakes you up, but you won't complain.

So tell me how could anyone want to skip all of the amazing aspects of Thanksgiving?

I look forward to Thanksgiving day every year but malls and stores have stripped me of fully enjoying this perfect holiday. As soon as midnight strikes on November 1st, they take down their Halloween decorations and immediately put up their Christmas ones (if they haven't already). They are brainwashing people into forgetting about one of the only holidays that isn't materialized and it's just not right.

So please people stop putting up your Christmas trees on November 1st, instead start writing down everything you are thankful for because in case you've forgotten Thanksgiving comes BEFORE Christmas.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
