Maybe I'm a bit biased, but in my opinion, holidays, especially Thanksgiving, with big families make them what they are. Holidays are all about spending time with the people you love. There's nothing like having 40+ family members crammed into a house laughing, eating, and drinking. Here are a few of the many great things about having a big family on Thanksgiving:
1. INSANE amounts of food.
There is always A LOT of food at Thanksgiving, but when you have to feed 50 mouths you need at least quadruple the normal amount of food. 4 turkeys, 2 trays of mashed potatoes, and several trays of different stuffings later and everyone has their pants unbuttoned and several tupperware full of leftovers.
2. No one is safe from being the focus of a couple hundred jokes.
At least in my family, you will never, ever, not be made fun of at Thanksgiving. Even if you are just being introduced to the family, you are not excused from being the butt of a couple harmless jokes.
3. Every kid for him/herself.
When there are at least 15 little kids running around, half the time you have no clue where your child is but you know that they're probably fine. Although if you hear crying, if you listen close enough you can figure whose kid it is.
4. You have enough people for two full football teams.
Why bother sitting in and watching the NFL games on the T.V. when you can go outside and play with two full teams?
5. Hours of reliving memories and making even more.
Thanksgiving is all about being together and spending time with the people you love. So, eat lots of food, laugh until your stomach hurts, and throw the pigskin around a bit.
Happy Thanksgiving!
