Dear Freshman Year,

It’s crazy to think how fast freshman yet, and that it's coming to an end. I definitely learned a lot about myself this year. Especially this semester in particular. I’ve experienced both the ups and downs of college. But I’ve forever blessed for memories that I’ve created my first year of college. I don’t think I would have done anything different.

Thank you for letting me find a place that I feel comfortable. Everything about this school is perfect for me, and I couldn’t be happier with the choice I made. Choosing to go to this school was definitely the best fit for me. I love the feeling that this school gives me every day that I’m there.

Thank you for giving me the best roommate I could ask for. I honestly would be lost with my roommate. I’m happy that I found her on the Facebook page because college wouldn’t be the same without her. She became like my sister and a best friend extremely fast. I will never forget the amount of adventures we took throughout this year and cannot wait for next year.

Thank you for bringing my best friend / non-roommate roommate to me. It funny to me to think one of the people I became friends with in college has the same name as me. I would be lost without the amount of the times you were to hear me rant or when I needed someone to talk too. You were always there for me no matter what. You found time for me.

Thank you for teaching me time management. This is something that I definitely am still working on but I definitely learned a lot about in college. I don’t know how I would have gone through college without learning time management.

Thank you for challenging me. Although I didn’t always like the challenges that were thrown at me it taught me how to handle it. It taught me how to balance different assignments that are due on the same day.

Thank you for introducing me to great people. I am very lucky with the people I’ve met my freshman year of college. They are all great people that I hope I continue to be friends with throughout the years of college.

Thank you for helping realize that life is to short for regrets. Once something happens you just have to let it go. You cannot allow it to bother you because it will quickly ruin you.

Thank you for helping me realize who is there for me and who isn’t there for me. People who are there for you will show it, and those who don’t care will not be in your life.

Thank you for helping me realize how important it is to talk to your best friends at home on a daily basis. You are all going through the experience of college at the same time. It’s good to see what’s going on in their lives and to hear about their friends. I’m happy that I talk to my best friends on a daily basis. Nothing has changed with them and nothing will.

Thank you for helping me realize what I wanted to do with my life. What I wanted to do when I first started college is not what I’m going to be doing.

Thank you for helping me becoming the person I am today. I’ve definitely changed a lot for the good during freshman. I’ve become more confident and independent. I definitely grew up a lot.

Thank you for all the memories. I will definitely not forgot the memories I made freshman year, and I cannot wait to see what Sophomore years has in store.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
