To The Best Friend I Won't See Every Day Anymore
Jaclyn McEachern

Dear Best Friend,

You know who you are and let me just say, you are my person. You are the one I can go to when I need a laugh or even just to cry, which we both know rarely happens. To be honest I have no idea what I would ever do without you in my life. Even though we have only know each other for four years, it feels way longer than that. It feels like you have always been a part of my life.

People say that a best friend is someone who brings out the best in you and I believe you do that for me. So, thank you for being that person for me. I honestly can't thank you enough for you have done for me.

It feels like just yesterday we were awkward little freshman, sitting in class to nervous to even talk to each other. Now fast forward, it is four years later and we haven't stopped talking since. I will forever cherish our after school hang out, our random drives to get ice cream, and even our Mary Lou's trips. I will miss all those fun little things as we go off to college but I know they will happen when you come home for break and it will be like you never left.

As you know, trust is a huge thing for me and thank you for never breaking mine. I can tell you anything and you will always listen. And I know if I were to ever get in trouble, I could go to you for anything.

Thank you for sticking around, even when I have given you every reason to not to. I have given you attitude for no reason. I have gotten mad at you when you clearly have done nothing and I'm sorry. You have seen me at my best and worst. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better friend.

Also, thank you for letting me be myself. In high school, it is hard to find a friend that doesn't judge you for being "weird." Thank you for letting me go on rants about my new obsession or about my always there Disney craze. I never have to worry about what I look like or the fact that I snort when I laugh because I know you will never drop me due to my imperfections. You showed me to be different is to be okay.

As we go off to college, I know it will be weird because I won't get to see you every day. But I know you will do wondrous things and travel to amazing places. And I promise I will visit where ever you go. Just because we are going to college doesn't mean you will lose me. We will talk every day and even when we don't we will just pick up where we left off!

Finally, I wish you the best in everything you do. Even when you think everyone is against you just remember, I will always be cheering you on. No matter where I am, I will always be here for you.

Sincerely,

Your best friend JQ

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
