To My Best Friend, Thanks So Much For Putting Up With Me
Sammie Fairbanks

Dear my, not so childhood best friend,

We weren’t even that great of friends in high school but senior year/freshman year of college was the best one yet.

No, we didn’t grow up together but everyone thinks we did. Yes, you’re still my best friend despite the miles between us and you always will be. Distance just won’t change a thing when it comes to this friendship!

Thanks for always being here for me any time I need you.

You’re someone I can count on and call at any hour of the night. You get my sense of humor, my stupid jokes and somehow you still choose to be seen with me in public. You’re always someone that’s here for me no matter what, you take ride or die to a whole new level. I know you’re always a listening ear that’s never going to judge me. It’s crazy to think that this friendship started as something that rooted in our junior year of high school. I love that our conversations started casual and kind of meaningless and now you’re someone I can come to with anything.

You seriously are someone I can count on.

You’re always down for movie nights, Panera runs and of course Starbucks coffee! You’re the best barista I’ve ever met and I miss mid-day coffee runs with you that quickly turn into spending money that we never had at Target. Thanks for spending the entire summer with me tanning by our poolside and listening to my crazy boy stories. You always entertained the both of us when you happen to fall off chairs. Honestly, I’ll always remember those mundane summer days that turned exciting because of the hilarious, and sometimes stupid, things we found ourselves doing.

I really just don’t get how you genuinely understand me.

You get my music taste but probably because it’s basically yours too. Our chick fil a addiction is too real and borderline embarrassing. The fact that we use to be regulars at Panera in Alpharetta just proves that you actually understand me. Even though it always broke the bank account it was worth every deep conversation we’ve ever had in those booths. Thanks for also being my personal fashion stylist and shopping buddy whenever I needed one! I love when you call just to see how my day is going and getting snail mail from you is the best thing. I just genuinely don’t know what I would do without you. The world needs more people like you in it. Thanks for being you and having such an impact on my life!

Find you a friend like this, hold on to her tight and never take her for granted because you never know when your best friend is about to walk into your life. She’s about to add everything you’ve been missing in a friend.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
