Some gratitude is long overdue.

A Thank You Letter To My Parents

Now that the holidays have come and gone and the new year is upon us, this is a common time to reflect and be gracious. I really want to shine a light on the ones we definitely don't give enough thanks to: our parents. And this is not just for the gifts that the holidays come with- but really taking a look at the sacrifices that they make to give us what we need. These are some things my parents do for me and I'm sure that a lot of you will relate.

Thank you for putting a roof over my head and giving me the love that let's us call a house a home. (And the awesome food that comes with it). It’s a basic necessity that I often overlook, and now that I'm older I notice how much work goes into running a home. As I grow and realize money is earned through a lot of work… owning a home in itself is a huge responsibility. Having a 19 year old college student living there on top of that is whole new world.

Thank you for all of the times you gave up something they wanted to give me what I wanted or needed instead. This in turn has taught me to be generous… And putting someone's wants over your own is a huge sign of love.

Thank you for being patient. It’s no secret that all teenagers develop attitudes. It's annoying. I could never thank you enough for your patience in all sincerity.

Thank you for teaching me what is right. Now that I'm off somewhat on my own, a fair distance away from home, my morals are put to a test every so often. My actions in these situations reflect your teachings. I can only hope they make you proud.

And finally, thank you for being hard workers. As the years go by I know it's only harder to get up in the morning and get going. The fact that you decide to get up and go for me is something no house, car or amount of money could ever repay. I'll still try. Your sacrifices will be well worth it, I promise.

This can apply to parents, grandparents or any family members that helped you get to where you are at this point. My family is pretty new to the United States, but if yours isn't…Imagine leaving everything you've known for a place with better opportunities that aren't exactly promised. Getting up and leaving, not knowing if you'll ever see the ones you love ever again. Starting off with nothing but the clothes on your back and pocket change. From there with immeasurable amounts of time, blood, sweat, tears, and effort a home is built. That is true love. That is true sacrifice.

Thank you for loving me.

I could only pray to be half as courageous and full of love as you are.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
