Thanks For The Memories Meme

Family... The most important thing in the world. That's what my Meme(grandmother) taught me.

Meme,

As you move away, I want you to know what a huge impact you had on my childhood and life. Those Thursday's and weekends that my cousins and I came over, are days we would never forget.

I will always remember the days in the pool! You always had the best pool toys and floaties that made every swim a new and fun expirience! That pool gave me a place to help dad with his work skills, and just have fun with him. It gave me a place to play with all of my cousins and grow up close with them.

I will always remember our days of cooking together! You taught me my favorite recipe, cornbread waffles! Such a yummy start to the day! You always made us the best meals and showed us new food like meat pies and Chowmain with gravy from Fall River. Most importantly, you always let me pick my favorite plate (G.I Joe, I needed THAT plate every time I ate!)

I will always remember the hours straight of board games! Sorry! was our favorite, Yahtzee was pretty awesome too. Clue, Rummy-Up, Uno, you name it, we played it! You helped me develop my love for board games over technology and family game nights over family phone nights.

I will always remember the cupboard full of movies to pick! You always had the best VCR tapes to choose from... Indian in the Cupboard, Willard, Jamanji and more! Sitting on the floor looking up at the huge flatscreen tv watching the best movies was the start to my obsession with movies. So thank you for that! Eventually cousin Emma and I found FearNet on Comcast and watched every B-rated horror film we could fit it the night! Those are the best memories between my cousin and I, so thank you for those memories Meme.

I will always remember the jacuzzi tub! A place to swim when it was too late or too cold to swim in the pool. I loved swimming around the huge tub full of my favorite toys like my Iron Man and Terminator action figures. I had the best times in that round white tub full of bubble jets! Oh how I've missed and will continue to miss that tub!

I will always remember how much you taught me! You used the clock in your dining room to teach me to count by 5's when my teacher couldn't, and you taught me most of the other times tables too! As a grew older, you taught me life lessons such as that family is the most important thing in life. Now I'm extremely close with most of my family and never take family for granted! You also taught me that there's always good that comes from something, like when you dragged me into my least favorite store in the world.. JobLot... but always got me something cool like my ducky pajamas or Lisa Frank coloring books.

I will always remember the Ghost stories! You always had us kids scared and entertained with the family ghost stories. To this day our family had the best ones I've ever heard. The cousins and I loved to ghost hunt every place we went to! We ghost hunted in your house at every sleepover! We just wouldn't give up until we found something! Again, the obsession with ghosts helped the bond between me and Emma, my closest cousin.

I will always remember the many trips you took me on to see my dad! I've never had a better flying buddy! Thank you for keeping me entertained on the plane rides and car rides to visit dad, and thank you for being the one to take me to see him! I will never forget our Halloween in Georgia, and our adventurous trip to Colorado! Eventually Larry took over being the travel buddy, but don't you think our travels weren't the best!

I could go on and on and on about all of the memories I have at your house and with you, but this letter would be pages long. Besides some memories should be between our family and not for the world to know.

Now I am going on 20 years old and you are moving away to Florida. I want you to know I am sad, but yet couldn't be more happy for you and Pepe. Now that all of the children are in different places around America, and all of us grandchildren are in another state or older now, it is the perfect time for you to start a new adventure. So enjoy your new chapter in life with Pepe, make new memories, enjoy life in a new way, and I promise you will be loved from afar! And know that the Marceau home may have a new family living in it, but OUR memories and OUR love will always be apart of OUR home.

Thank You For The Memories Meme. I Love You So Much & For So Much. See You Soon!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
