A Letter To "My Person"

Thank you for being there when I felt like no one else was.

A Letter To "My Person"

Dear My Person,

Remember in Grey’s Anatomy when Meredith told Christina that she was her person? It was probably one of the sweetest fictional TV moments ever, and since then, that phrase has been blowing up newsfeed and timelines alike. But even as cliché as it is, I couldn’t be more thankful that you walked into my life and never left. Congrats on being my “A1 since Day 1.” Lucky you, right?

Not only are you the one who I lean on during the tough times, but you’re also the first one to hear every one of my greatest moments. Okay, I’ll admit it- I’m sure you could care less about each and every minute detail of my life, but thank you for at least pretending to listen as I rant about my Amazon Prime order arriving three days after the guaranteed delivery date or about the 98% that I somehow, by the grace of God, landed on that dreaded O-Chem midterm.

Whether it’s as simple as hanging out in your living room and binge watching The Bachelor or late night stops at Taco Bell for a chicken quesadilla and a Baja Blast, there is no one else that I could ever imagine or want to go through life with. You have stuck by my side through the good times and the bad. From the gangly and awkward days of high school to the less gangly, but just as awkward days of our twenties, you have always been my person to count on.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of this life has in store for us. When we were little, we joked about having houses that connected through and underground tunnel so that we could see each other whenever we wanted. We laughed about marrying best friends and having our kids grow up together. I mean, things change a lot in fifteen plus years, so the dreams we had when we were seven aren’t that realistic anymore, but the one thing remains the same- Our friendship.

So thank you for being my person. Thank you for being there when I felt like no one else was. Thanks for being my shoulder to cry on, my advice giver, my reality checker, my number one fan, and my biggest cheerleader. I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you for being you! Our friendship is unique and crazy. If I had to describe it to anyone else, I would be at a loss for words. Just know, that you are my person, and I love you.

Love,

Your Person

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
