Thanksgiving is (obviously) a day to give thanks for the things around you. Sometimes we get distracted by Grandmas homemade Mac and Cheese or mashed potatoes, or making sure that we take cute pictures that we can post on Facebook and Instagram later. There is so much more to Thanksgiving than that, here are a few things we should be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
1. Good Health
Sometimes we tend to take for granted our normal functioning body. It's like when you go for months breathing normally and then you get a stuffy nose and realize how much you wish you could breath out of your nose again.
2. Family
Family is one of the best things God created, He knew we couldn't make it through this crazy life alone, so, He gave us a crazy family to help us get through it. When you are sick they are the ones who take care of you, they are the ones who love you unconditionally and they are your biggest support system. I am so thankful for my family, even though they sometimes drive me up the wall. I know they are the ones who love me the most. So If you haven't already told your family that you love them, go do it.
3. Friends
Friends are the people you come to when you feel like you can't talk to your family about the situation or problem, they are the ones who you can relate to and can also be supportive and loving. Right now I am at a point in my life where I don't have a lot of friends and just have two or three good ones and those people are a blessing and I wouldn't want to give them up for anything.
4. Food
I know this sounds like a silly thing to be thankful for but beside the fact that food is really delicious and you are getting ready to sit at a table surrounding food, before you dig into that delicious pile of food make sure you thank God for the abundance of food because there are people inside and outside of the United States that don't know where their next meal is coming from.
5. Jesus
I always save the best for last. There are so many reasons to be thankful for Jesus but I think the obvious reason is the fact that he lived a perfect sinless live and then went through a painful death and gave his life so that we could live ours. If that isn't enough for you to say thank you to Jesus please read a few more books in the bible and read about the amazing and incredible things he had done.
Thanksgiving isn't just a time to sit around and watch football or the Macy's Thanksgiving parade. Its a time to reflect on everything you have and the people around you. It is a time to verbally thank everyone who has helped you or did anything that has influenced you in some way. I hope you have a blessed and safe Holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
